How to Play Nonogram Atelier: Puzzles – Beginner's Guide
Jeetech Studio · 2026-11-07
What is Nonogram Atelier: Puzzles?
Nonogram Atelier is a calm puzzle game where you fill a grid, follow number clues and watch a hidden picture appear. It has 120 handcrafted levels, and each one is a small painting waiting to be revealed.
The levels are spread across ten themed islands. They run from small starter grids to big, detailed finales. Finished pictures are framed and kept in your Gallery.
The game works fully offline. There's no account or login, and your progress is stored on your device. That suits flights, commutes and evenings without Wi-Fi.
Getting started
Open the game and choose an island. Every level is open from the start, so you don't have to unlock anything first. You can begin with a small starter grid or jump straight to whatever you feel like solving.
If you've never played a nonogram, start small. Smaller grids let you learn how the clues behave before you face the big, detailed pictures.
A few settings are worth knowing about before you begin:
- Colourblind mode is available if you need it.
- Sound and haptics can be switched off.
How the core mechanic works
Every row and every column has number clues. They tell you which cells to fill in that line. Work through the clues one line at a time, and the picture gradually appears.
The basic controls
- Tap a cell to fill it.
- Drag along a row or column to paint a whole run in one sweep.
- Switch to the X or dot tool to mark cells you know are empty.
- Undo a move or restart the level whenever you like.
Colour levels
Some levels use a palette of colours. In these, the clues are coloured too, and each run has to match its shade. Read each clue's colour as well as its number.
Marking empty cells
Marking the cells you know are empty is as useful as filling the ones you know are full. The X or dot tool lets you record what you've worked out, so you can see which cells in a line are still undecided.
Tips to progress
Work one line at a time. Pick a row or column, use its clues to decide what you can, then move on. Progress in one line often helps with the lines that cross it.
Mark empties as you go. Use the X or dot tool for cells you're sure are blank. It keeps the grid readable.
Use drag for long runs. When you know a run of cells is filled, one sweep is quicker than many taps.
Don't fear undo. If a guess looks wrong, undo it. You can also restart the level if you'd rather start fresh.
Use hints when a line won't give way. Hint Brushes are there for stuck moments. You get 3 free every day. You can also get more with Pigments or by choosing to watch a rewarded ad.
Earn Pigments and restore your atelier. Solving levels earns Pigments, the in-game coins. Spend them to restore the rooms of your atelier one by one. It gives you a quiet renovation to come back to.
Build a daily habit. There's a daily puzzle with a forgiving streak, and a freeze boost to protect your streak. Each level also has a star rating, so you can replay levels if you want to improve.
