What is Nonogram Puzzles: Color Logic?

Nonogram Puzzles: Color Logic is a calm picture-logic game. You fill in a grid, follow number clues, and a hidden picture slowly appears. The store listing calls the game Nonogram Atelier, and it includes 120 handcrafted levels. Each level is a small painting waiting to be revealed.

You don't need to know anything about nonograms before you start. The game gives you everything you need on the grid itself. This guide covers the basics and some habits that will help you solve puzzles faster.

Getting started

Open the game and choose an island. There are ten themed islands, and they range from small starter grids to big, detailed finales. Every level is open from the start, so you can jump to any puzzle you like. If you're new, begin with a small grid on the first island and work up from there.

A few things to know before your first puzzle:

  • The game works fully offline, so you can play on a flight or a commute.
  • There's no account or login.
  • Your progress is stored on your device.

How the core mechanic works

Every row and every column has number clues. Those numbers tell you which cells to fill. You use them to work out the picture one line at a time.

Reading the clues

A number is a run of filled cells in a row. A clue of 3 means three filled cells sit side by side somewhere in that line. If a line has more than one number, each number is a separate run, and the runs appear in the order shown.

Colour levels

Some levels use a palette of colours, so the clues are coloured too. Each run has to match its shade. Check the colour of a clue before you fill a cell, not just the number. If you find colours hard to tell apart, the game has a colourblind mode.

The tools

  • Tap a cell to fill it.
  • Drag along a row or column to paint a whole run in one sweep.
  • X or dot tool: switch to it to mark cells you know are empty.
  • Undo a move or restart the level whenever you like.

Marking empty cells is a big part of solving. Once you know a cell can't be filled, mark it. Your later deductions get easier because the grid shows you what you've already ruled out.

Tips to progress

Start with the lines you can finish. Look for a clue that fills most of its row or column. Those lines give you filled cells straight away, and they help you solve the lines that cross them.

Mark the empties. Use the X or dot tool as you go. A grid with only filled cells makes it hard to remember what you've already worked out.

Work one line at a time. The game is designed around solving the picture line by line. When one line stalls, move to another. A new filled cell often unlocks the line you left.

Use undo freely. If a guess leads to a contradiction, undo it. You can also restart a level when you want a clean grid.

Use Hint Brushes when a line won't give way. You get 3 free every day. You can get more with Pigments, the in-game coins you earn by solving, or by choosing to watch a rewarded ad.

Build a daily habit. There's a daily puzzle with a forgiving streak, and a freeze boost can protect your streak. Each level also gets a star rating, so you can come back to a puzzle later.

Keep playing to restore your atelier. Finished pictures are framed and kept in your Gallery. You can spend Pigments to restore the rooms of your atelier one by one. It's a quiet reward for finishing puzzles.

How many levels are there?

There are 120 handcrafted levels across 10 islands. Every level is open from the start, so you can play them in any order.

What are Pigments?

Pigments are the in-game coins you earn by solving puzzles. You can spend them on more Hint Brushes or to restore the rooms of your atelier.
